From running shoes to bicycle pedals

Sarah began her athletic journey with running, but due to the one-sided strain, she quickly suffered injuries. The solution? An additional sport with less impact on her muscles and joints. That's how she discovered cycling, and it was love at first sight. "It's wonderful to explore new places by bike and exercise at the same time!" she says enthusiastically. In 2019, she also added strength training to stay stronger and injury-free. "The feeling after a tough strength session? Bliss!"
Sporting goals and future challenges

What's on Sarah's athletic schedule? A Hyrox race is at the top of her to-do list. "Hyrox combines strength and cardio, so it's the ultimate challenge to combine my two passions in a race." She also stays loyal to her bike and plans several gran fondos and cycling events. But above all, she's listening to her body more now. "Last year, my race schedule was too busy, so training became a necessity. This year? Go with the flow! I train what I feel like and sign up for the events that feel good."
The role of sports nutrition in her performance

Sports nutrition plays a crucial role in Sarah's training and competitions. "Many people underestimate the importance of sports nutrition. Your body needs sugars to perform optimally. Without the right nutrition, you break down muscle, and your training is essentially pointless." Sanas is her trusted partner in this. Sarah discovered Sanas during the 100km run for Kom Op Tegen Kanker (Fight Against Cancer). "There were some delicious orange candies at the refreshments, and of course I had to try them!
