ATP

ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is the substance that stores energy in muscles. It is the fuel that powers muscle contractions. The more ATP present in the muscles, the stronger and longer the contraction. ATP is broken down into ADP (adenosine diphosphate) and energy. To convert ADP back into ATP, it must react with creatine phosphate.
