Sodium Bicarbonate
Sodium bicarbonate is the English name for sodium bicarbonate. Its purpose is to prevent muscle acidification and allows you to push harder and recover faster between workouts.
Sports with multiple short, intensive stimuli or different series of exercises particularly benefit from this.
Bicarbonate is also beneficial for endurance sports where you occasionally have to push yourself (e.g., a cycling stage with several climbs). In pure endurance sports where the intensity is maintained continuously (e.g., a marathon), it has no proven benefit.

The dosage of sodium bicarbonate is 0.3 to 0.4 grams per kg of body weight . For someone weighing 70 kg, this equates to 21 to 28 grams.
The capsules should be taken in the hours prior to exercise , with the last capsules taken approximately 1.5 hours before the start .
To avoid stomach/intestinal discomfort, it's best to take the capsules at intervals, with a maximum of 5 to 6 grams of sodium bicarbonate per dose. Leave 15 to 20 minutes between doses.
Bij het gebruik van natriumbicarbonaat kunnen maag- & darmklachten optreden. Om deze zoveel mogelijk te vermijden is het aangeraden om de capsules telkens met voldoende water in te nemen (en idealiter ook telkens iets bij te eten).
Experimenteer hier dus niet mee op een belangrijke dag, maar test dit op voorhand meerdere malen tijdens trainingen uit!
